Suitable for people working professionally in day nurseries, nursery schools, pre-school environments and child carers & minders who require an Ofsted qualification. Accidents happen all too frequently in class and playground situations and teachers, assistants and other school staff are frequently first on the scene. The presence of trained staff can ensure that Emergency First Aid is given to the casualty swiftly. This can prevent emergency situations becoming major issues whilst giving the best possible care to the casualty.
This course satisfies the requirements of the latest Ofsted's Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) & Children's Register
To provide nursery and pre-school staff, child carers & minders with the knowledge and skills to summon help and give safe, prompt and effective emergency aid to a child casualty (both children and babies) in a care environment following an injury or illness using materials to hand and approved First Aid equipment.

- Assessment of a child or baby casualty
- Assess and treat a child or baby that is unconscious
- Place a child, baby or adult in the recovery position
- Artificial ventilation and CPR techniques for children and babies
- Secondary survey
- Assess and treat a choking child or baby
- Treatment and control of minor and major bleeding
- Assess, treat and comfort a casualty with nosebleeds, grazes or larger wounds including penetrating wounds
- Recognise and treat shock in children and babies
- Recognise and treat anaphylactic shock in childen and babies, including use of auto-injectors
- Caring for sick child or baby
- Recognise and treat head injuries, electric shock and poisoning
- Assessment and treatment of fractures, including head and spinal injuries
- Assess and treat asthma attacks, seizures and diabetic emergencies
- Identify the causes and treatment of burns and eye injuries
- First Aid equipment and record keeping
- Identify recommended contents of a First Aid kit
- Recording accidents and incidents
Any staff or volunteer workers who require an Early Years Childcare First Aid course and are responsible for the care of children or babies. Staff completing Level 3 of the National Occupational Standards in Childrens Care. All registered childminders and pre-school playgroup leaders are required to have First Aid training.

Recognition and treatment of bleeds, including nosebleeds, grazes, larger wounds and penetration wounds
Recognition and treatment of medical shock
DAY 2
Management and treatment of:
Electric shock
Burns and scalds
Fractures including head, neck and back injuries
Poisoning
Foreign body in eyes, ears or nose
Bites and stings
Allergic reactions, including anaphylatic shock
Extreme heat or cold
Diabetic emergencies, asthma attacks, meningitis and febrile convulsions
The role and responsibilities of the Paediatric First Aider, including appropriate contents of a First Aid kit and recording accidents and incidents
Revision of underpinning knowledge and practical skills
Availability can be discussed to suit your organisations needs.
All successful attendees are required to attend a Paediatric First Aid couse at the end of their three-year certification.
